Wonderful Review on DIAPASON for A GOLD BOX by Ensemble Alraune

The recording A GOLD BOX by Ensemble Alraune under the direction of Stefano Zanobini received a wonderful Review on the specialized magazine Diapason in France. Boccherini and Dittersdorf rare chamber music compositions with double bass has been recorded in this CD.

Complimenti!

It is a Boccherini without embellishment or wig that we are given to hear — three Quintets op. 39. The interpreters cannot deceive, as these pages are demanding in terms of combinations of timbres (the colors sometimes change from one measure to the next) and of relief in the conduct of the discourse. The Piccolo Concerto Wien (ORF), refined and elegant, and the Ensemble 415 (HM), of subtle intelligence, have both, each in their own way, uncovered the riches. The Ensemble Alraune ventures forth with a bold proposal, one might say experimental.
The Allegro vivo ma non presto of Opus 39 No. 2 combines agogic fantasy and irony, spices the flavor of the timbres, and singularly layers the sound planes. In the final Allegro vivo of the same, there is no swirling vortex: the musicians of Alraune hold back, accumulate tension before releasing it in a passionate outburst. Great art, which is also admired in the sweetness of the overlapping bows or the tenderness of the musette effects testified by the Pastorale of Opus 39 No. 3. Alraune raises Boccherini on a ridge path where the truth of his music emerges only from an infinite precision of the gesture of each stand. Compliments!
