Among the new international collaborations of the Turchini Records, the Baroque Compass project presents the French harpsichordist Béatrice Martin for a tribute José António Carlos de Seixas. This project marks the beginning of an unprecedented partnership between the Gaudium Magnum Foundation – Maria and João Cortez de Lobão, the National Museum of Music in Mafra and Pietà de’ Turchini in Naples. The initiative aims to promote and disseminate Portuguese musical heritage, honoring Domenico Scarlatti’s influence at the court of King João V, as well as revealing unexpected links between past an present through the lens of contemporary composers, thus building a cultural bridge between Naples and Lisbon. For the recording of this programme, to be released under Turchini Records label, Béatrice Martin played on an historical harpsichord, classified as a “national treasure” in Portugal. Among the Sonatas by Seixas, Beatrice Martin recorded a new composition by the portuguese composer Antonio Pinho Vargas tracking a new connection between the past and the contemporary music for harpisichord.
